Youth Assembly gets new reps in Lagos, elects Amb. Aderibigbe Speaker

The Lagos State Chapter of the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN) conducted elections and inaugurated new representatives (ambassadors) in 40 constituencies within the state. This event took place during the NYAN 2023 Lagos State Convention held at the International Press Centre (IPC) in Ogba, Lagos.

During the convention, the newly elected ambassadors also proceeded to select their key officers. Amb. Adeola Aderibigbe (Etio-Osa Constituency I) was chosen as the State Assembly Speaker, while Amb. Akindayo Ajiboye (Somolu II) emerged as the Deputy Speaker.

Additional principal officers who were elected include Rasheed Wasilat (Clerk), Victor Martins (Majority Leader), Emmanuel Nwokolo Emmanuel (Minority Leader), and Emmanuel Keshinro (Chief Whip).

The Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee, Amb. Jamiu Akangbe, noted that all representatives were returned unopposed during this election process.

Some of the newly elected ambassadors for various constituencies include John Ojetunde (Somolu I), Naimah Obidola-Adegoke (Ikeja II), Ayodeji Atitebi (Ikeja I), Tosin Akindele (Ikorodu I), and Emmanuel Macaulay (Kosofe I). Other elected representatives encompass a wide range of constituencies and individuals.

Amb. Michael Ogunsola, the National Minority Leader of NYAN, administered the Oath of Office to the new ambassadors, highlighting the organization’s mission to create mechanisms for youth development in the country. Amb. Bashir Shagari, the NYAN National Speaker, emphasized the importance of influencing government policies to protect youth interests and urged the ambassadors to work together in unity.

In his inaugural speech, Amb. Adeola Aderibigbe called for unity among the ambassadors, disregarding ethnic and religious differences, and focusing on collaborating to improve the situation for youth in Lagos State. He emphasized the need for increased youth advocacy to address challenges and support entrepreneurship and job opportunities.

Amb.. Aderibigbe concluded by expressing his commitment to advocate for the welfare of the youth and work towards making Lagos State a better place for all its residents.
